'93-'94 had a problem with #3 crank journal drying out during extended wheelies/running after a tip-over, causing a bearing to seize. Don't know about later years, found this out after buying a '94 with the #3 bearing out of it.

All the 900RRs have oil issues from wheelies, unlike the later model 929/954s and F4i's, their oil pick up sits more forward like gixxers. You can get oil pick up relocators tho for like 70 bucks or somthing. I kno there arent a whole lot of stunters here but 900RRs frames will crack right around the rear of the tank/seat area...one guy just welded plates to his frame when he saw the hair lines start to form 2 other guys cracked their frames right in half. But once you fix there minor problems (they are minor if you catch them before they start doing real damage) you got yourself a tank of a bike.

Heh, actually I knew there was a problem w/the motor when I bought the bike (1200.00 complete, w/extra farings/stands/fox shock/damper/misc crap). Spent another 1000.00 on a used motor (after realizing I wasn't quite up to rebuilding the orig.), misc parts for +/- 500.00, now I've got a stupid fast 900 for around 2700.00, plus I got to learn a whole lot about the motor/jetting etc., and had fun putting everything together. Now if it would only stop raining............

I bought mine 98 900rr with 9000 miles on it, and fork seals was leaking. I replaced the seals and have 22000 miles on it know, and not one problem (knock on wood).
