just wanted to know if anyone knew a general estimate of labor and parts to replace fork, brakes, and carb cleaning, and minor tuneup for 1987 600 hurricane, I'm getting my bike repaired and trying to get a good idea of what to pay, and I think I might be getting ripped off, a good breakdown of each price of work (ex. carb cleaining - $300 for parts/labor) would be appreciated. Thanks, new rider

I can't comment on the $$$ side as I'm not from the US. But here is a rough guide. Forks - 3hrs labour -parts:- seals, bushes (maybe), springs (maybe), fork oil Brakes - I hr labour 2 if a flush is needed. If your brake fluid is the colour of tea then get it replaced. Should be done every 12 months. -parts:- Pads, seals (only if you are unlucky), brake cleaner, brake fluid. Carbies are hardest to get an idea on due to the what may may be needed. If its just a clean it would be 2-3 Hours If you need balancing you can add +1 hour If you need float heights & mixture adjusted +1/2 hour You may also need new float needles & seats depending on age. The best value way to do it is grab a manual & do it yourself. But if you don't have the tools then forget it. If not get it all done at once as it will be cheaper.
