Heres some pics of the gunmetal metallic with clear, still looks soooo much better in person. I'm doing my OEM E46 325i wheels in this color. Couldnt believe how nice it looked in person once cleared:

TRG, great look'n !!!!!!!!!! you say "once cleared" do you mean, clear powder coated, and baked again? or cleared w/ "paint"? if "paint", do you have to "prep" for adheasion? I've got another Q... we know "pops" yoshimura, used to silicon carbide blast, engine surfaces, to aid in heat transfer... I'm paranoid about powder coating and heat transfer... early can am mx's, w/ orange engines, did have heat retension problems, also. Harley friends say ... " i run a aux oil cooler... for insurance". Heat retention , in an exuast system, would be an asset, in HP. Have you guys ever run tests w/ on of those "temp guns" to see whats "up"? maybe a coated/ uncoated side cover test... Many of our sport bikes are faired, and at a disadvantage to start w/. thanks, I think those gunmetals, are an awsome alt. to black and well done. Clean and free, only smoke'n harleys !!!!!!! Ripp'n

Powders are more of a aesthetic coating not a functional in terms of heat retention. Any heat retention that could occur would be negligable, im talking a degree or two if that. The powder is a organic plymer aka a plastic so its more of a electrical insulator than anything. With the clear, its 100% powder clear coated, no liquid paint etc.
