New to the forum, current bike is an 05 Hayabusa, but I think I am more approapriatly sized for liter bikes being 5'10 and 160lbs, the Busa on longer slower rides tends to put my arms to sleep with the long reach to the bars, I have to conciously angle lower to put a bend in my elbows, but the power and stability is nice. I sat on a CBR today and the ergonomics feel like they were alot better than the Bus, however I don't know very much about these bikes, I read they have an easily removed transmission which is a huge plus since with harder ridden bikes that is usually one of the first things to go, like 2nd gear on our Busas occasionaly. I like the Honda for their Fit and finish, I truly think it is second to none although the Busa is probably one of if not the best bike from Suzuki fit and finish wise. Are there any real concerns with the CBRs? I think I read briefly about some cam chain tensioner issue..but that is pretty much EVERY high performance inline these days and past. What year did they get the removable casette tranny? Are they super buzzy cruising 100mph plus?

First you must know I rode a 2005 600RR last season as well as this past week down in Daytona. I have a 2006 1000RR and although I only have about 30 miles on it I am truly amazed at how well it handles and the power it has. My 06 1000RR handles a lot better then the 600RR which leads me to believe I have to get the suspension on the 600 tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. I have already leaned the 1000 over further then the 600 and the tires are scrubbed in yet. If you even have an itch to buy the 06 1000RR you will not regret it one bit if you buy one. Believe me it will be spine tingling smiles for miles and miles. I can't wait until the weather warms up so the Pirelli Corsa tires stick a lot better.

i have a 04cbr1000 and i gotta tell you. comming from a R6 the ride is much better the bike handles better and the new cbr 06 is supposed to have a litle more horse and lighter plus the sprocket is a 42 as opposed to a previous 40. the 06 has more top end and comes up a lot sooner. you should buy march 2006 superbike issue trust me worth the $8.00 if your lookin for info.

I think you are making a wise decision due to the fact that Honda's refinement is unmatched. I say this because I owned a CBR1100xx. I purchased it brand new in 1998 and sold it recently in December of 2005. During the years I have grown attached to that bike, I could handle it like some guys handle there 600's. I put 79,000 plus miles on that bike. Believe me they were the hardest earned miles a bike has ever seen. For doing top end runs on long straight aways to getting hit on the freeway. Not once but twice. That bike never failed me. No problems with the engine what so ever. Actually sounded and performed like it did when I had bought it. Hence why I purchased this 05 CBR1000RR. I like a heavier bike due to the fact its a bit more stable in corner entry and exit speeds. I don't think you will go wrong choosing a honda. Do your homework before buying a bike...if you have good friends that have that bike ask them if you can test ride it. I did with all the liter bikes and just like the honda better. Well happy hunting.

I just traded up from a 2003 600RR to a new 06 1000RR. The difference is night and day to me, the ride is so much better and the weight difference is only 30lbs since they lightened the 1000RR. The 06 has a lot of power and a more secure ride that anything else I have had. I do not think you will regret the purchase one second.

I agree with another post on here..I would buy an 05. You can get killer deals out the door for them now. Buy an 05 and use the extra money and buy aftermarket products for it. I just ordered PVM rims...ahh nothing like magesium rims. Do your homework before you buy.

I used to like the 04/05 until I saw the 06. For the difference in cost I would opt for the 06 knowing how much Honda improved it especially if you like to looks better.

If you are anywhere near Tennessee then check out Southern Powersports. Their internet prices are as advertised. The hard part is factoring in what your time is worth plus the cost of fuel compared to the savings. Don’t forget to add in your states sales tax to Southern Powersports OTD price.

I plan on using that towards hopefully getting an ok price, someone on here posted the invoice data for the CBR for 06, basically they have about 9200 bucks invested in the bike after honda gives them 5% back. That is why the dealers can sell for 10k and still make money, selling the bike at 10.1 gives them a realistic 10% on the bike, not the 30 they are trying to get with MSRP plus addons.

Buy a 2006, better handling, better power, better weight, why go backwards?
