I just returned last wednesday with a '95 CBR1000, and I must say that I'm pleased. I drove from central Maryland to Northwest Boston to get her and she is quite the machine. A little bit heavy in town, but it gets up pretty good and handles rather well. The guy I bought it from told me it was mint and ran strong, and to my delight he was not lying one bit. There's one scratch on her (1/2 inch stone chip) on the front, and she runs and shifts smooth as silk. She's completely stock with 17,000 miles. It's the silver/black/yellow colored one and I picked it up for $2700.
I couldn't be more pleased, and I can't stay off her. I rode over 150miles yesterday, and rode to work this morning in 40 degree weather if that gives you any idea.

By the way, cool forum. I'll have to get some pics up or something.

Good for you to find such a nice machine. I'm driving in about the same weather conditions here in Sweden, between + 2 to + 7 Degrees Celcius and have no problems with that.

Very Nice, kingfisher!
I was riding last night with a guy on a '90. We were comparing the changes from his '90 to my '95, and we noticed that Honda reversed the placement of the gas and temp guages. I wonder why? I mean the guages look identical, just in opposite places. There are other subtle differences which I can understand, but the guages?
Anyway, R1000, 42 degrees F (5.5 C) was still a little chilly for me this morning. I drive about 30min, and I don't wear gloves. I'm ready to go inside when I get to work.

I have to use insulated winter glooves and activate handle bar heaters when driving below 8 Deg C or so, then it is OK.

That makes more sense. I'm gloveless with no heaters, riding in 5-6 degrees C.

Be careful to yourself and concider glooves for protection.

10-4. I will probably ride straight from work and get some. I know I need them, but I also like the feel w/out them.

I ride all winter in Colorado with my summer elkskin gloves. But my hands are protected by Hippo Hands. They are a leather pocket that clips over each handlebar end, and you stick your hands inside. I have used them on different bikes for over 20 years. Here are some on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vetter-Hippo-Hands-2-PAIR-RARE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34355QQitemZ8054437239QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

recently it's been great here.. but last week it was about 2-5C as well (40ish) handlegrip heaters are a godsend.. now if I can get some shin warmers.. I wear steel toed shoes riding to work, and they don't prevent wind from whipping around my ankles too well..

VERY nice bike, i paid 2600 CDN for mine, but it wasn't in the condition that yours is in.. (actual out of pocket cost was less, my car had a far higher trade in value than I paid for it) it's also my first street bike, so it's been on it's side at a standstill a couple times already.. I think that may be out of my system now.. I don't have to practice for any skills tests anymore doing lock-to-lock figure 8's etc which is just ASKING to dump the bike sometime or another...

mine starts fine.. don't touch the throttle when cranking.. just turn the choke on, and crank... mine won't start if I open the throttle at all... it's the choke design which isn't truely a choke, it's an enrichment..
