Well, a short while back, I was an idiot and banged up my helmet. Not in a crash, it just fell off my bike. Big mistake, I won't ever do that again. That whole experience made me really realize how fragile the finish on these expensive helmets really is. So, after buying a new helmet, I decided to try to do something about it. I had just put the Tank Slapper on my tank, and one of their headlight kits on also. Seemed like the thing to try. I bought some of the roll material - not of the Tank Slapper (it's a static cling type material), but of the headlight covering, as it is thicker and has adhesive. I made some paper templates, cut out the material...I think it turned out pretty good. The seams are barely visible. It was not the easiest install in the world - the doubly curved surface of the helmet is much harder than covering the headlights...but it is possible. See what you think:

Ouch. That really sucks. If you read the Arai manual they tell you to replace if it's dropped from waste high or above. I believe this line was written by the guy that's never had to actually pay for a $500 Arai helmet.
