well i'm still in search on alarms.. i'm also seeing about a group buy on cheeta alarms.

if anyone is interested in the talon though this is an email i just got from them.

Well as you have probably figured out, the orders coming in on this group
buy have been dismal. All of one to date. I looked at the forum member
base which isn't all that large, so here is what I will do. Any order
listed with the CBR Forum group buy as the Company name until the cut off
date will receive the discount. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Brad Vansickle

Do they really? (I don't know)
I am seriously contemplating it, in fact, I'm just waiting for some $ to transfer into my account, at which point I think I'll be buying the Scorpio. With the Perimeter sensor, Titl function, Back-up Battery and Anti-Hijack feature (which I think is an ignition kill). Not to mention that the alarm will page you if there's an issue.

I paid more for a car alarm that did not do that much (but maybe I was just stupid).

If we could get a group buy from kneedraggers or some other site on that alarm, I'd be all over it.

FYI, contact your insurance agency and see if you can get a discount on your insurance rate (alarms always reduce the price of the policy) just for the ones that look at this topic and are like "i dont need an alarm.. who steals bikes?"
first thing is my leathers, then i will buy an alarm.. hope this group buy will be going when i get the money/time haha

OK...I just finished the alarm installation. Difficulty for the brain .... 2 Difficulty finding space and routing wire... 7 took a few hours.

take off most plastic, you can leave right front piece on.
Take off gas tank plastic too
Take off driver seat and pass seat
Take off plastic above exhaust (pass seat plastic) to place LED above clear lens. (this is optional) then place back on without screwing it in.

you want to leave the pass seat plastic in place so you know if the control module and sirens fit, but leave it unscrewed for now so you can lift it up to get wires through. photo shows where i placed components 1 = control module 2= speaker and perimeter sensor 3= wiring to battery, switched lead and antenna wire route. (under the plastic of course)

notice in the other photo, the antenna placement. the metal antena should not touch any metal. I snugged it in under the headlight and inst panel. It fit well without the chance of it falling out or getting wet. I ran the wiring on the left side along with the existing wiring. Not too bad, just takes time. I also went to the fuse box area to find a switched lead (headlight or horn) so the alarm knows when you turn on and off your bike.

I didnt wire the directional signals to blink, as the key fob remote lets me know when when I arm and disarm the unit. if you dont wire the signals to blink, make sure you tape them off. I didnt hook up the siren either cuz the speaker sends out a warning and the key remote vibrates and beeps when alarm sends a warning or is tripped. I would rather have a chance catching someone stealing my bike. (im sure a few of you feel the same)
If you hook up the siren and silence it, the perimeter alarm wont work. So I simply unplugged the siren part (you can hear the relay clicking when the siren would be going off)

this was installed on a 2006 cbr1000 the alarm is TW400 Internatrix

one other thing... the key fob remote is made from cheap hard plastic, so I used black electrical tape wound around it for protection. Looks like shit but saves it from breaking while its flapping in the breeze at 150 mph.

I have it set so it will warn (with a human voice) after person comes VERY close or touches the bike. Then if they continue to molest the bike, the alarm will trigger.

Any questions?...just ask, ill be happy to help.

Peace out

The warning is a pre-programmed woman's voice stating that the motorcycle is protected by a security system. (the owner gets notified by vibrating and chirping the remote key fob)

The siren chirps for 3 seconds after the warning, If no one bothers it for a little while, it will reset. If they continue to bother the bike after the warning, the alarm will sound for a few minutes and the ignition will be disabled. (you will be notified again by the remote key fob)

I have the siren unplugged, so the bike still issues the human voice warning but no siren. I still get notified too.

very nice review. one question though, how far away does the remote pick up the signal that someone is messing with it? also you might not want to catch somone messing with your bike.. sure it will feel good at first but then if they press charges that could be a bad thing.. but if you do.... make sure to blacken both there eyes and break there jaw so they cant point you out or say what you look like ;)
