Hi, I have a '88 CBR 1000F. It didn't come with the center stand. I got one and
mounted the stand to the bike. Now how do I get the spring mounted? I tried some
Snap On brake spring pliers, but still couldn't stretch it enough to mount it. Any ideas
on how to do it?

Thanks,
Bob

Pennies. The trick is to stick a penny inbetween the coils as you pull the spring apart. It is sometimes easiest to bend the spring and stick a penny in one side. Bend it the other way and stick a penny in that side on the next coil. Do that several times and the spring with slip right on. Good luck!

You stole my response!! HA HA..
I have done that for years, putting pennies, or nickels work really well since they are fatter...Like Jason said, just bend the spring in a U and insert nickels in the opened up coils and flip it the other way and insert more change until you have enough length to install the spring..then put the bike on the centerstand and it should open the spring enough and all the change will fall out!!

Thanks for revealing the trick. I never would have thought of that one! Now, if I could find my wife's purse......

Thanks guys for the quick answer!
