It is ok to spray the entire bike with the water hose, right? Sorry I am a noob.

what if you dont have all the fairings mounted? obviously i dont want to spray water in the battery box, and the black box on the right side (that looks important, ecu maybe??)

Obviously you should avoid spraying water directly into the ram air vents on the front of the bike as well as into the exhaust canister. Also don't use the HIGH pressure systems that they have at your standard car washes. I did that once after I had my bike on a 750 mile road trip and my speedo was very erratic until everything dried out. Other than than, low pressure water, soap, wax, etc. is alright for the bike.

My 2 cents: Despite all the miles I put on my bike, I don't wash it all that often with the hose, soap and sponge. I tend to do that only when it's time to lube the chain and take care of some other maintenance items. I normally use some Formula 409 to clean the bike up after I've been riding for a day. It does the trick on bugs, tar, grease, etc... just spray it on and wipe off with a shop rag. Takes 10 minutes to get the bike looking good enough to ride again! And I haven't noticed any ill effects on the finish either despite not waxing/polishing the bike in a couple years. Guess I should do that soon.

I just use McGuires wash (gold in color) rinse, dry, and then follow up with some Plexus (Cleaner/Polisher). Looks brand new every time.
