hi, has anyone here previously modded their CBR1000f to take a newer seat off a super or hypersport model (ie like a 954rr or similar)

What would you have to do. I know its not an easy it/swap.......The frames are obviously different, placement of battery would be a consideration etc.

any information would be great

cheers...jas

hey,

I am currently doing that mod right now. I am using a sub frame from a 2004 f4i and an under tail exhuast from a bmw. I just started this project on Easter Sunday so I will update you when I finish.

How hard was it to fit the swingarm? That looks bad ass.

well i had to make spacers because the vfr swingarm was a couple inches narrower and i also had to make new bushings because i used the hurricane pivot bolt and it was a smaller diameter then the vfr pivot bolt. then i had to notch the frame so that the shock would clear and make the shock mount. i dont have the measurements for the bushings or the spacers but next time i take it apart to paint i will measure everything. you can kind of get the idea with these pictures but i will take some more next time i can.

did you center the shock in the frame? reason i ask is because if my memory serves me right (sometimes it doesnt) the VFR has the shock offset to one side which would require you to move the upper shock mount... if the shock is offset and you only shimmed one side of the swingarm just to align the shock, the tires would not track right...

if i am all wrong please accept my apologies, your bike is going to look awesome.

well you cant really see in the pictures but first i aligned the swingarm and then i made spacers for both sides. after i got that straight i made new upper and lower shock mounts.

very cool! could you post pics of that? i was looking at doing a 900RR swinger, but the prospect of moving the shock mounts kinda scared me off...
