Is there anyone out there who has used sports touring tyres on their cbr600rr yet? Reason being is i cover over 10000 miles a year on my bike & the sports tyres were getting too expensive to replace that often so i decided to take the plunge last october & about 5000 miles later the same rear tyre is still on, if a little squared off now. Since i owned the bike i've had Bridgestone 012's & 014's which were great but didn't last too long. Then some Pirelli EVO Corsas which i could never get up to the best working temp here in cold England & they would often break traction.

Then i bit the bullet & got some of the latest sports touring tyres from Pirelli, the Diablo Stradas & i must say they are excellent. I cannot find any difference in the performance between the sports tyres. And on the plus side - (a) the tyres last two to three times as long (b) they are great in the wet, which again is handy for here in England.

Any thoughts?

i say good call mang...
they are supposed to be right up there with the diablos but get 2x the mileage.
just remember, unless you're a really experienced rider, stickier tires only mask deficiencies in a rider's ability...
that's why a pro-racer can use the old skool dunlop 207s and drag knee and dance around everyone else.

i've ridden 207s in the twists with no problems...it really helps with making you a smoother and better rider.

i used avon before, made my hair all frizzy and i got a rash...not i use mary kay ;-)

i think he should be able to get at least 7K and that is riding aggressively mang...
my next set of street tires will likely be those, depending on if the bike goes track only or not.

I'm happy with about the 5000 miles with the Pirelli Stradas, could easily get another 1500 miles out of them i reckon - like i said they're a little square & just starting to effect the handling. I'll be getting a new rear in a week or two though, that should see me through to the winter. If anyone is considering a sports touring tyre i would really give them a try. (you can check them out on Pirelli's web site)
