Hi all
My name is Ian, and i live near Nottingham in the UK,
I have just last week bought my first CBR, being a 1987 CBR1000F-H. (I believe that this is a Hurricane in the USA)
Anyway, I got it on Ebay (Those in the UK may have seen it last week, The Burnt Orange one).
Its not bad actually and i am just servicing it and getting it ready for the road, BUT, believe it or now, I cant get the seat off!!!!!

Can anyone tell me what i might be doing wrong?

Thanks

Ian

well oviously you are turning the key right? if that doesn't work or can push the latch back from underneath.

Thanks, yes, turned the key.
Pushed it, pulled it, prised up the back of the seat to try to see how its attached, all with no joy.

Maybe its VERY strong super glue.LOL

Once i turn the key, should it slide backward and upwards?

Ian

I think you turn the key so the helmet latch flips out, then turn a little more
The seat slides back

I find that if I turn the key correctly, then it comes out easy. Sometimes it doesn’t want to, but all I have to do is try the key again.

Thanks a lot for all the advise guys.
Finally got the seat off.
The lock is knackered so isn't turning the seat lifting latch. Gonna take the lock apart and try to sort it.
Just putting the bike all back together now, and just the fairing plastics to go. MOT test next week i hope.

Now to find a set of Givi luggage for it

Ian

I have the same problem and took my lock apart today.
The quality is poor and it is broken and unfixable so I have to buy a new lock.
I just hope now that the lock can be opened with any CBR100F key otherwhise I think this will be expensive if the lock is unike for my key.

I get the seat off every time now by putting my hand on the tail ridge of the seat (the very end of it), and putting my weight on it, then turning the key. It pops right up after I release my weight on the seat. Give that a try.

Ok
I managed to repair the lock with cemical metal.
To reduce the risk of the lock beeing damadged again, i used greese on the lever that holds the sadle in place. (After taking that apart)
Now everthing works very fine but I dont know for how long.
