Hi all,

I just completed the first oil and filter change on my '06 600rr myself after 2 hours of frustration. I double-checked everything after putting the bottom and right fairing on but I get the feeling its running hot. Weather was about 60F today and went for a short ride. My average temp is about 173 degrees but every time I would stop at a light it would quickly go up over 200 degrees. I did refill the coolant to the upper hash mark. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I was hoping that someone could tell me if this is normal or not. I don't recall the variations in temperature before the oil change. Any thoughts?

average temp sounds about right. can't recall what mine increases to sitting at a light but i'm thinking 200 isn't excessively high. hmm... let's see what the others say...

anytime it is nice out and i sit at a light or go through a school zone etc (slow speed for extended period) it jumps to 200 then i go through the gears and get it back up to around 50mph in 6th(reason being low rpm's and a good amount of wind inducted) and it cools it back down to the 170's

Mines the same, normal running is about 78 degrees (C) but on a warm day it'll go up to 104 (C) quickly when at the lights etc.... So yours sounds just fine.

When I sit in traffic my temp goes up to about 220 or so, doesn't seem irregular.

Just was ridin my 2006 around and noticed same thing. When I am moving the temp is 176, While setting for a while it will shoot up to 200. Just so ya know Do Not start your bike then turn it off without letting it warm up. Do to the fuel injection it can foul the plugs. My dealer gave me He&& for doing this.
