Mine was doing that but it was the grips. I will look when i get home at the service manual and mabey i can fig out what else it could be.

It could be something as simple as the grips being to long or having moved and binding on the switchgear housing. My F4 would do that after it was tied down with a Canyon Dancer bar harness. So I would have to pull the grips back down.
or if the bike has been dropped or crashed it could be the hanblebar is bent

go through a little of the service manual.did not seem to find anything that will help so far. Right now my F2 is having the same problem and im going thought it. let you know what i find out.

Going through the manual it looks like the throttle has a 2 cables running to the carbs. one is + othe is -. The carb have springs the cause the cables to move back to close. there is many things it can be....

1.) the spings on the carbs are wore out. most likly not it.\

2.) the throttle cable has some dirt in it.

3.) grips

looking more in to it....

I fixed my throttle I just opened up the control box where your engine off and on switch is and took off the grips and sprayed wd-40 into the throttle cable that makes it snap back and it worked it is perfect know.

As the cables get older they are prone to sticking due to them flattening out where they protrude from the front of the airbox.
The main fix for it is ...
Remove the airbox & locate the front mounting point on the frame(for the airbox mounting lug) and bend it up slightly to relieve the downward pressure on the throttle cables when the airbox is in place.
It may also help by gently squeezing the outer cables back into shape with pliers (as they do flatten and bind after time).

New cables, new throttle sleeve and still no good. mad sure the cable was not to tight. It is now very smooth but i have to replace the throttle return springs in the carbs to get it to snap back. right now it slowlty come back. take about 1sec -1.5 to return.

This is exactly what fixed my F2's sticky cable after it sat for about a year without being ridden. It went from being dangerously sticky (as in pretty much unrideable) to snapping back just like it should. It did take a good bit of WD40 in both ends of the cable but it did the trick.

I just bought a 93 CBR 600 about a week ago. My throttle was sticking also. what i did was i removed the bolt from the side of the grip and found out that the rubber washer in there had deteriated and was gumming up the throttle. I cleaned that up and put in a new washer and it snaps back perfectly now.
