this happened to me a couple years ago. there's a plastic fitting on the right side of my bike (if my memory is correct) near the top of the engine. Its a fitting where 3 coolant hoses join up. hope you guys know what i mean if not ill try to get a pic. anyways i was riding one night sitting at a "T" intersection. i pulled out onto a main road and punched it. i got to about third gear and then BOOM. the fitting just exploded and spewed nice and toasty AF all over my leg. my buddy behind me thought a blew my motor cause of all the smoke. i ended up having to pull over and get my pick-up to bring it home. it was just wierd because the mtotr wasn't over temp or anything. i think it was only a $10 part or something. just wondering if any of you other guys have had the same problem?

I have had the same problem on a UK Ford Escort. T Piece blew nothing wrong with cooling system.

An item worth noting!

Yes, I had the problem with that fitting deteriorating. I didn't blow it apart but had a slight weep that acted like a hose relaxing and leaking at the joint. Tightening the clamp was just causing the deteriorating fitting to collapse. With age the material gets soft. It's only evident from the inside. It's a good piece to replace with a winter maintenance and antifreeze change if your bike's 10 years old or better. At least be aware of it and with the slightest hint of a leak, replace the fitting, don't just try to tighten it.

It is visible from the right side of the bike, in the fairing opening near the top of the head. It will appear to be a junction with two hoses. One coming up from somewhere below and then continuing upward to the thermostat housing. What's not readily evident is the third hose that comes in to that fitting from behind. It's well masked from view. That hose is a return that comes from the opposite side of the head. Happy Motoring!
