I'm a DIY hands on guy when it comes to my machines. So I will do my own oil changes.

Where do you guys get your oil? Filters?

Which is best in your opinion of both oil & filters???

THanks in advance!

I use the OEM Honda paper filter, but some people swear by the Scotts reusable filter (here's a review http://www.cbr600rr.com/forum/index.php?page=55 ) and I decided to go with Honda HP4 semi synth...I like the best of both worlds...

I only use Repsol synthetic oil and honda filter. The oil is pricey, (about $10 a liter) but I think its the best by far.

I use Repsol also, I get here for about $6.99 and use the Honda oil filter. Course though, I've only done one oil change so far, but I used to use Repsol in my '94 Kaw.

First... $120 for the Scotts filter At $12 per regular filter, that would pay for itself in 10 changes... but damn that's a lot to pay out for the first oil change.

I don't know if there is a set mileage to start using synthetic oil, but I waited until the my 6000 mile oil change. That gave me the first at 600, 2nd at 3000 and then a 3rd at 6000 I started using synthetic. Makes for a $50 oil change... but oh-well.

Preety close to the mileage I use, 600, 3K, and then every 2,500 after.

Are we forced to buy Honda filters at Honda only? Or is there a lower price online place? (Vette world has this, so I'm asking)

Same on oil??

Thx,

PS: Also, how long do you allow to do your own oil change? Never done one, so I'm needing to ask all this stuff the first time.

I use a HiFlo filter and castrol 10w40 and have been using it on all my CBRs for the last eleven yrs, i did use the OEM when under warranty. I also use the same oil on my atvs and truck never having a problem and change every 3000 miles.
