How manny miles will the stock chain and sprockets last. what size are they now and what is the 520 conversion, what are the best brands and how much should i expect to pay. if someone could explain the size difference to me that would help. what is 520? length, width? im not sure if i want to stay with the stock gearing or go for more acceleration. i like my speed'o being close to correct. but i wouldn't mind a little more acceleration. anny feed back would be great. sorry for beating a dead horse.

I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Stock gearing on the 600RR is 16/43 with a 525 chain.

The 520 Conversion is a lighter weight chain that removes about 2 pounds of unsprung weight (rotating mass).

If you go with fewer teeth in the front or add teeth to the rear, you will gain more torque off the line or bring the front up easier. Don't get carried away here, it'll kill your top end speed. A good starting point is to try -1 in the front. That should give you what you're looking for.

You speedo is off more than you think. A speedo healer is very easy to install and is well worth the $100. Plus you get that cool top speed recall.

The stock chain and sprockets will last you a while... it depends on how you ride and if you take care of the chain, but you can see 15k, 20k or more out of a chain. I have about 9500 on my stock chain and it's still in good shape, sprockets too.

520 is not the length of the chain... it's the size of the links themselves. The higher the number, the more metal and heavier the chain is.

i beat up mah chain...got about 15K out of her...and she was DID...yea baby...now i went 520 conversion...overall weight savings is pretty significant but dude, can't tell shite on the road...so i shoulda gone 525 for the better wear...but this puppy is going to the track anyway, and up in the super duper high RPMs...the difference will be noticeable...

so what i'm trying to say is if she's a tracker and canyon rider most of the time...go 520...if she's a commuter, bike nights and other city rider stuff...and stunting...go 525...
