hey i just got my f4i and i was wondering, how does the gas gauge work because it is not there for a while, then all 3 bars light up with RES at the top and the fuel pump sign at the bottom, is that when it starts to tell you how much you have left or what

sorry if this sounds dumb, the bike didnt come with the owners manual

There should be four bars on the reserve light, and I think you have around a gallon when all four bars are not blinking. When you get to around two or one bars that aren't flashing I would start looking for a gas station as soon as possible!

Yea, it tells you when you are getting low. If its not on then you dont really have to worry about your gas. It gives you a good amount of reserve so that you can travel into the nearest town if you are on the highway.

Ive had all four blinkin for a while and still didnt run out of gas

They are supposed to start blinking one by one from top to bottom as you are running out of gas

after my bars first appear they all are gone in about 15 miles. i'm getting 45 miles per gallon so i know i didn't use a gallon. plus when i filled up it only took 3.8 gallons and the tank holds 4.9. so it is only a rough guide.

from what I underestan, It not only takes into account the Current ammount of fuel in your tank. It also takes into account your speed, Engine sensors etc, my guess is that its a rough estimate based on CURRENT fuel consumption and whats really left.

I have notice that it takes a while for the top one to start blinking, but the rest start faster and faster. Anyone ever confirm the actual tank capacity. I know Honda says 4.9 gallons, but I have never put more than 4 gallons with four blinking for a while.

The most i've ever put in is 2.8 gallons (with the last bar blinking). I'm getting good mileage though (~45mpg)... where's the rest of my gas?
