ohh also whats a 520 conversion(may be a noob question but hey Im not a mechanic, just a rider.)

its just a conversion to a narrower chain and sprockets. they weigh less and it takes less power to turn them so more power is transfered to the ground (less power lost in the drivetrain) and it also revs quicker.

the new r6 does not have 140 hp.. it's like 125 @ the crank... which is 110-115 @ the wheels

No the new R6 does have 140hp....They have 3 r6's now, the yzf which is like the f4i, then the R6S which is like our RR's it's the 05R6 ,and then the new bad boy with a 20k Rpm redline 140hp.

And as for the guy who started this thread, the others above made a perfectly logical solution. Why dump all that money if you want that much more power just go buy a litre bike and call it good.

you've got to be kidding me right?? they said it rev'd to 17.5, it actually revs to 16.7, and it def does not make 140 hp... the highest dyno run I've seen is 117 at the wheel. damn you gotta read more or somethen.

My friend just turboed his 900rr for about $2500 including everything, hes hoping for 200 on pump. Everyone keeps telling him is going to kill himself and is just going to be a wheelie machine but thats just stupid. If your a good rider you know how to keep a wheel on the ground when needed. I say go for it if you got the money and skills to ride

Turbos have been around for a long time and if you do your homework they're rather reliable over the long haul. I put over 20K miles on a turbo'd bike and when I sold it (for the 1000RR) the damn thing would still power wheelie at 130mph in 4th gear.

I don't think I'd bother with a 600 though and here's why -- prolly the most you're gonna get from it reliably is 160hp. You're talking a lot of expense if you want to raise it up to 200hp -- head work, race gas, intercooler, two stage system, bigger injectors, etc. Another reason I wouldn't put one on a 600 is because the 600 is so light -- the extra bulk of the turbo is most likely gonna make it handle oddly. There aren't a lot of places you can put it on a bike so directly behind the front wheel is where it'll be ... 30-40# of iron.

Oh, reason I got rid of mine is because 1) maintenance is a bee-yatch. Lots of nitpicky stuff to do to make sure you don't blow up on a daily basis. 2) I always rode it too darn fast. ALWAYS!! and 3) My shoulders literally couldn't take the strain of 300+ hp on a daily basis (had surgery on the right shoulder).

Now getting a 1000rr for the street and keeping the 600 for a track bike sounds like the very best of both worlds Brilliant!!

thanks chainstretcher...I dont know why people get on here just to tell me not to do it instead of just giving info..I guess post count is important. But I think I will keep the 600 for the track and the 1000 for the road..

dude noone is getting on you! its just that putting a turbo on a 600 makes no sense. The bike is a stupid fast for a 600 and it handles like a dream. Putting a turbo on it would not make it any better. in fact it would be a waste. If you feel you need more power than the 600rr has then bump up to the 1000. And I guess we will see you vs Rossi sometime soon.

I haven't read all of the posts on this thread because so far from what I've read everyone seems to be questioning you even though you started this thread. You should turbo your bike.It would be easier than supercharging in My opinon because of placement and the fact that your boost tops out fairly quickly at what I belive to be a current approx. of 7-9 psi.A site that doen't really have any thing to do with cycles but does have the whole DIY thing in mind is homemadeturbo.com.They source alot of turbos from junkyards and run them in homebuilt systems. You might not be able to source a turbo used.Maybe look for chevy sprint turbo in which you might find compressor/turbines at places like mjmturbo.com.Those small 3 cylinder bulldozer turbos might match up.Buy some books.Do the research.Install the turbo.Kill some tires.take pictures and share them with us!
