Hello, I have my 1988 Hurricane almost completely stripped for a rebuild. I am planning on a custom makeover. Has anyone found a source to get a widened swingarm or a single sided arm to allow for a 240 tire? Also could use a good source for new camshafts. Thanks, Jeff

You probably won't be able to clear the chain with much more than a 180. Any particular purpose for this? It will be very detrimental to the handling. Even a 180 on the later ones instead of the 170 already steers noticeably heavier at the bigger leans.

190/50zr17 will fit with the stock swingarm and a newer cbr1000f rim. there is plenty of clearance for the chain... you will however have to lose the mudguard. i got an incredible deal on a leftover set of cbr1000rr tires that i couldnt pass up, so i will let you know how they work, so far so good....

The reason I want to go with a wider tire is because I am going for a custom look. This is the bike that gave my my inspiration. http://www.allmondcycledesign.com/page3.htm I bought a new CBR1000F tank. I plan on plasma cutting some flames out of steel. Bending them around the tank, and then covering the whole thing with carbon fiber. Hopefully the flames will look like they are embossed in the carbon. I want to add polished stainless steel fenders, like a Vincent BlackShadow. With taillights from the Von Dutch bike. (sorry no link). I have the engine apart. I am having the internals coated with Swain coating. Pistons and Rods. I am planning a 4 into 2 exhaust with cut pipes covered with black heat tape. The handlebars are going to be a straight "streetfighter" styler bar. Thanks.

If you are really intent on that size tire check some of the drag racing sights. They use extended sprocket output shafts to clear the slicks on the drag bikes and may have something for you if you find you need it.

Thanks Dad. I have been checking in all the magazines, but completely forgot about the drag racers. Thanks.
