Looks good.I,m doing this on a freind of mines 04 600rr but I used aircraft stripper and then just polished the front one up like a mirror.I'm having a promblem with the rear rim though. It just won't polish up.It's like there's somrthing still on it.You didn't have any problems like this did you?
Also,I painted this bike for him also and got stuck putting it back together.I have no idea where any of the bolts and fastners go.And also how do you get the tailsection on with out breaking it?

heh, took me 2 weeks since the coldness made the finish VERY difficult to come off. But when it finally warmed up it was simple. The best part was peeling off the tape all at once.

I highly recommend Mother's Polish!

Ha ha. Yeah I know.  Just like opening a present on Christmas.

But I had to deal with the cold too. Very frustrating.

n update almost done with the front rim . took a lil time but was worth the effort . i did not sand my rims  cause they were in pretty good shape once the paint was gone . i just added paint stripper till all the paint was gone. from there i polished away using mothers alum polish . i am painting the spokes on my rim n gonna clear coat it after then clean off the rotors all that ,put it back on the bike n do my back rim . when i am done n everything is final will post my last pic with them on the bike

i had the bright idea to try and do the whole rim too and much to my suprise the center part of my rim is a different material front (F2) and rear (F3).. it is not the nice shiny stuff its a textured metal and i even tried to use a dremel to see if it would come off but it does not shine.. my rims are off to get powdercoated now...  tried the rim paint and with all the prep in the world it still chips..

Ninjamaster that's different. Can you put more pics up? I don't think the pic you posted does your bike justice. Is your bike in your kitchen?

Great job, This was one of the first things I did to my bike. I have to say it is a major improvement.

Pic of it outside(damn snow)I used PPG Candy apple red, Liquid Crystal as the main color with a Dodge pearl black for the "tribal".I still have to clean it up a little more though.I guess I'll have to trailer it to my work to clean it up!!!And yes that is my kitchen, the garage is thru the door!!!!!

I approached this almost the same way.  I used Tal-StripII aircraft paint remover, sand papers from 220-1000, metal polish and steel wool.  Here's the end product:

Should this be done on or off the bike?
Off the bike. It is quicker, & gives you a much better chance of doing the job right. Paint remover will try to bleed through under the tape if it is on the bike or the wheel is left vertical while the remover does it's job.  My best luck has been to apply remover to one side of the rim then turn it over & tape the other side while the remover & gravity do there thing.
Don't try to polish the center of the wheel. This is 100 times the work that the edges of the rims are. If you look at the center part of the rim you will see that it is not smooth. All of this material would have to be taken down to the same smoothness before it could be polished.
