if you plan to do regular/preventative maintanance and ride sensibly i would say don't get the extended warranty....if it's going to break it'll more than likely happen in the first year....but if you plan to abuse the bike....that is another story. Hondas are the best all around built bike IMO. i had to use the warranty service on my past 2 r1's but never on the 900rr that i had before those(i put 21K miles on that 900rr in 2 seasons and just changed the oil and tires....pretty amazing actually)

NO. Why are you buying a Honda....it's a quality machine, that's why they get a premium over the other brands.

Honestly, Honda engines are bullet-proof and generally have very few service problems. you probably won't need it.

However, in regards to resale, if it's between a bike that has one and one that doesn't I'm more likely to buy the bike that has an extended warranty.

I bought an F4i last year because it had the wrty. I recently bought a 1000RR with the ext wrty as well.

I bought my 06 and I got the four year warranty. It was only 590 bucks. Hell, after tax, tags, and title; your bike now net total will almost be $11,000.

At first I wasn't going to get it, but later on I changed my mine and here's my reasoning:

Sure 590 dollars sounds like alot, but do the math:

590 divided by four years = 147.50 a year

147.50 divided by 12 months = $12.29 a month

0r

147.50 divided by 365 days in a year = 40 cents a day

Sure I've never had problems with my F4I or Blackbird, and the chances of you having problems with this bike are slim.....BUT, CRAP HAPPENS, so you never know.

Its gives me a piece a mind, and a better resale value if I do decide to sell it before 5 years.

Wouldn't you feel like crap if something very costly happened after your one year warranty expires and all you would've had to do was $12.29 a month???

Doesn't seem worth it to me.

I agree. I think it's worth it.

Just be aware, part of the wrty is Honda's racket to make sure you go to Honda certified service shops. The wrty agreement is very specific about how if you do the service yourself you'll need to keep perfect records, receipts, etc, or you can just have a Honda certified dealer do the service. Of course if you choose the second option you'll pay out the @ss for labor and parts.
