I'm picking up an 89 this weekend which is track only. The rear for sure needs to be swapped out and seems like 150/70 would be a nice size, but do they even make those? I'm leaning more towards a 150 over the other sizes at this time. I see only 150/60's on the Michelin and Bridgestone site. Any suggestions?

Also...anyone run this model bike on the track? Would I be at a big disadvantage of going with a 150/70 over something like a 140/70?

i personally haven't run my bike on the track, but the tires i can shed some light on.

i started out on 130's then 140 then 150. 150 is max on that rim without crowning the tire.

i would go 150 since the 140 over a 130 is not much of a size difference. you'd get yourself a little extra lean angle. but you'd touch hardparts before your knee ever touched anything.

i'm currently running a michelin pilot sport. takes some time to warm up but handles extremely well. i've also used a dunlop gt501 but that is a bias ply tire, not radial like the michelin. if you run the dunlop real hard over an extended period, it will get "greasy". there is also as you had pointed out bridgestone. i had run a bt012 a few years back and don't remember how it felt. however, i am running a bt014 in 110/70/17 on the front. it is smaller in circumference from stock and allows the bike to turn in faster. i assume you'll be using a matched set, and if so then no height adjustments need to be made to the bike.

i hope this helps. finding the latest and greatest sticky tires to fit this bike is a nightmare.

this is a very neutral handling bike that is very predicatable. so long as the height is kept the same f and r, there shouldn't be any problem running any tire you choose. if you do run into an issue with a particular brand, post it up and let us know.
