Hello. I got a 1994 CBR 600 for free yesterday. It's a long story, but it's not stolen or anything like that. The bike has been wrecked pretty bad, bent handle bars, all the plastic is scraped and broken. The bike is showing 13,539 miles on the odometer. It's been sitting for a couple of years. The keys were lost some time a go so I had to hotwire it. I then put a battery charger on it for a couple of hours. Hit the starter button and it started right up. It missfired some and was puffing whiteish grey smoke out the exaust and was a little slow to rev up at first. After about a minute it started to rev up and run ok. I let the bike idle for a few seconds and it quit running. Now it won't start back up. It sort of tries to but it just won't kick off. Does anyone know anything about the wireing on these bikes? The ignition key switch has 3 wires going to it. I connected the two red wires together and it started once. There is also a blue wire with an orange stripe going to the switch, does anyone know what that wire does? None of the lights, horn, or anything seem to function. The bike has about a quarter tank of gas which I put in it yesterday. I have tried the choke in various positions with no change. I have not checked for spark yet, but will this afternoon. There is a vaccum line hanging loose that goes to the left most intake just in front of the carb. Does anyone know where that is supposed to go? I appreciate it.
