Hi Guys,

Since I put on a Sato Racing slip-on on my '06 1K about a week ago, I have noticed that off idle in 1st there is more noticeable flat spot or delay before the bike starts to accelerate. I find it takes about a seocnd after opening the throttle off idle and then bang the power kicks in ...I mean I realize that the bike is flat in general under 3-4k rpm...but this seems to have gotten a bit worst with the slip-on.

Will a PCIII mapped to my setup do anything to improve this under 4k rpm ? Also....is there a PCIII available yet for the '06...it seems like there is not ...but many say the 'o5 model works on the '06 ?

Advice appreciated

Phil

Hi Again..

An update to my first question/post:

I called my local Honda shop that also provides performance tuning/dyno services...and this is what I was told:

-that even after installing an aftermarket slip-on the bike should automatically adjust without the need for a PCIII. They said that it can adjust by about 8% +/- for a slip-on and in most cases is not even needed. A full exhaust is another story however.

- MORE important is to install a freer flowing air filter to compensate for the fact that air is leaving the "back of the back" alot faster

So the recommendation was to FIRST try an air filter (eg. K&N) and see if that improves throttel response before going the PCIII route

Does this make snese ? Anyone found that a slip-on with just an air filter like a K&N (no PCIII) helped to improve throttle response ?

Yeah the PC3 will sort it for ya with a custom map, mine did exactly the same thing stock and with the RS5 can. I got a PC3 and custom map made on the dyno, now its gone.. Pulls hard from 2k upwards.

Thanks Anubis...I think I will get a PC3 and have it mapped....Did you also change the air filter or are you using the stock one ?

I went down the K&N route yeah, theres a debate whether or not it helps flow more air. But I got it cos it`s re-usable really.
