Was thinking of replacing the seat on my F4i, as I intend to do quite a bit of touring, so just wondering if anyone knows what the best one to buy is? I have heard of corbin and sargent, is there any other makes available and what is the best one to buy for comfort?

I've had the corbin since about a month after i got my bike in 2003 and I love it, i think its very comfortable and you can customize it all to match your bike

Yeah i've got a Corbin seat on my 2001 F4i, and i must say, it feels great. It came with my bike when i bought it, so i tried putting the stock one back one to see the difference. The stock one was harder and it put you more into the tank. The Corbin felt wider and cradles your butt more, which is always good. If you're going to be on the bike for longer periods of time i would reccomend looking into a better seat. David

does it just slip on and quick release like the banana seat or do you have to fit brackets?

Well if you have a 2001-2003 F4i....it mounts exactly like the stock seat.....it comes with the brackets already on it and you just bolt it down with the 2 stock bolts that held down the stock seat

Corbin is it! I have had several on different bikes. I currently have an 05 F4i, just ordered the new Corbin so once it comes in expect a full review with pics. I will keep you posted.

i was going to buy one for my 2002 F4i, but i was thinking of upgrading to a 2004-2005 F4i next year, i think the corbin seats are different for both models as I thought I could switch the new seat over, so it would be a waste of money really for just one year, cos they are quite expensive.

I had a Corbin on mine and it seemed comfy but I am on 5'7 and the Corbin is really hard on the edges, so when you have to stop and stand still it really gets painful and annoying. I sold it and went back to stock. I am looking for some good gel material to try and fab into the stock seat to sooth my aching a$$!

Not a flame; just curious: What about a 2004-2005 F4i do you consider to be an upgrade over a 2002 F4i? How many miles do you have on your 2002?

Yeah 2002 is the exact same as the 2004-2005 bike except that the 2004-2005 bike has the "banana seat" and different color options (every year they change) Unless your 2002 bike has a ton of miles on it & about to die.......you wouldn't really be upgrading

Hello, Sorry for the delay in taking pics and writing a little review. I have attached some pics to at least show you what the new Corbin looks like on my 05 F4. It's first pictured with the Smuggler and then with the back seat/back rest and trunk. Thanks, James SMUGGLER... I'm thinking about the getting the Corbin seats with the smuggler. As far as opinions with looks, I've gotten a response for 1 good and 1 bad. I'm kind of on the fence myself.
