How do you know when your clutch is wearing out, needs replacement? Lately on hills...if I take off from a stop and I am in first gear, with the clutch pulled all the way in....I have a hard time getting the bike to move.... I let the clutch out slow as usual and give it gas but it seems like the bike is almost about to stall. I have to give it way more revs, like past 2000 rpm to get the bike moving. Am I doing something wrong? Or is something wrong with my bike?

Sounds like your problem is similar to the one I have been having. Does the motor sort of bog down, like it might be flooding, then it hits and takes off real strong? That is my symptom. My F2 has a good clutch, but to maybe answer your question, on my 1982 Yamaha Seca 650, the clutch wore out at 90,000 miles. I would go 70 mph and always the rpms were around 5k. I began to notice the rpms were increasing and the speed was relativly the same. Clutch slippage in high gear was my first clue. Then as it got worse, from a dead stop, the engine would rev but the bike would creep like I had the cluctch lever pulled in, but it was all the way out. You could have a bad clutch, or you could have the same problem I too am having with my 92 F2, which I have not discovered the cause just yet. This weekend I will tear it down and see what possibilities I find, but I have ruled out my clutch since I can do a second gear wheelie, a bad clutch wouldn't allow that. Hope this helps..........if it doesn't, thanks for reading it just the same. Take Care and Good Luck
