Just bought my 99 600F4 off the original owner. Mint @ 8000miles. He has always used Castrol synthetic 5w40

The manual says 10w30 for the temperature conditions in my area 20 to 90f (-10c to 35c)

What do you think I should be putting into it?

I am currently using Motul 4T 3000 Synthetic. I heard that a good synthetic will quiet down engine noise and provide for smoother shifts. This version of Motul did both for me so I am happy with it. I might try their 4T 5100 next. I also use K&N oil filters not only because they are good but also because they weld a nut on top of the filter for easier removal. Check out the below link to an accessory store called Iron Pony located here in Columbus, OH. They have links that describe the 3000 and the 5100 Motul oil.

Past owner of my bike ran GN-4 honda oil and honda genuine oil filter with k&n air filter. He used it nothing leaks on it so I don't want to change it.
