So, a buddy is back in town for the summer from colorado, so I rode over my bike to show him since he hasn't seen it yet. Anyway, he's been thinking that he wants a new bike besides dirt bikes so I had to entice him a little. So, some how or another, we break out some old Honda trail 70's that he has like 4 of. I think one was a 1969, and the other a 1970. These are total beaters, but oh man, I can't remember laughing so hard...ever! They were lots of fun. No clutch so you have to jam it in gear and the shift pattern is in reverse...you have to tap down to get it to upshift. I was doing wheelies on mine by dropping it a gear then give it lots of gas and cram it into the next gear. I was surprised, didn't even have to pull up on the bars! Anyway, here I am in my full leathers with knee sliders cruising down the road on these things. It was hilarious and we had all sorts of people laughing and pointing! I bet we looked like 1%ers...the 1% that doesn't want to be seen by others. We pulled off into this field and my buddy climbs this huge dirt pile that was probably two stories or more tall. He makes it to the top, but I got stuck on some really crappy dirt and stalled it. I then tried to kick start it and stripped the kick starter or something internally. We tried to pop start it, but think something was busted inside the crankcase. I hopped on his and he hopped on the broke one and I pulled him up this big hill with him grabbing the tail light of mine...laughing the whole time, that we alsmost fell over and wiped out. I then pulled him downhill same way and he let go to pop start it to no success. This repeated quite a few times and we looked like retards to anyone driving by or anyone looking out of their house. In any event, just goes to show that you don't need something new and fast to have a great time. Here's a photo of what we were riding...but much nicer: Thumbnail Image

Yeah, I would like to find one someday just as a beater to play with. I didn't get any knee draggin in because when you cornered, it was unstable - like driving a dump truck. His were decent, but kind of beat up...I swiped the photo above from the internet just for reference. I was checking them out on ebay just for fun, and really nice ones that are restored from the early 70's are going for $1000 or even more. Lots of fun!
