Just got the 06 CBR 1000 Saturday, April 21st. The dealer had an invoice sticker/stock number on the headlight. I have had 4 bikes, this is my first new one. Long story short. Like a goober, I used a brillo pad to try and remove the goo that was left from the sticker on one of the headlights. Now I have a quarter sized scuff on the headlight. And you guys know that the front of the CBR is one of the meanest looks out here. Its a small mark, but noticable. Any idea on a fix or should I just spend the $150 on a whole new light assembly??

We all goober!!!! not so cheap entertainment !!!!!!!!!!!! check out my reply about "wind screens" Just below yours. I think it could possible be worked out w/ 1000- 1500 -2000 grt wet and dry then finish buffed... slow on the buffing, dont just chuck up a disk on a drill, may be varable would work. Too much "heat" and new problem... melty melty!! I think I talked about componds for polishing, white bar, would work, try it by hand first after sanding. patiance...sneek up on it... ya dont have much to loose... blog me if I can help more. Clean and free, Ripp'n

They sell a kit that is made to polish headlight and taillighs. It comes with several buffing pads with the polish already on them that attach to a drill. All you do is wet the headlights with a little water and run the pads over the headlight. then wipe them clean. I always put a coat of wax to help protect the ligth after. It works very good.

Hey give the kit a try... they generaly arn't for a "brillo" abuse, but slight scatches, and hazing. You could try the kit, wetsand if nessacary, then hit w/ the kit again... Clean ad free, Ripp'n

Thanks all. I'll try and find the kit. I'm sure it will work. Ripp'n, my uncle told me the same thing you did. But I didnt feel comfortable seeing as though he was rollin' an old school. I didnt think that the process would work on the new stuff ridden out here. Thanks again.

There will be NO sleep in the twisties!!! Muwahaha!!!

Ripp'n and sfd540 you two are much appreciated. It worked. The headlight had a crazed pattern. I started out with a 1500 pad and kept working in a vertical pattern. Worked my way up to 12000 pad at 90 degrees alternating with each pad. Cleaned off and used a glass gloss and polished. Looks better than new. Thanks again bro's. You saved me much time and definitely the pesos. Take care

To stay on course means to roll with force!
