The Metzeler Z3 front tire on my new/used '93 900RR is looking pretty bald. I could use some help choosing which tire to replace it with.

I still have the stock 16" rim, if that makes a difference.

I ride mostly twisty country roads but I'm forced to do freeways too.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pirelli Diablo hands down! I have run a plethora (sp?) of tires ranging from Metzler to Dunlop to Avon (sucks BTW) and I LOVE the Diablo's. Get the CORSA compound if you do alot of twisties, a bit softer but hella grip!! Good luck!

I'm not sure how others feel but i dont like two completly different tires on the same bike. Tires have different handaling trates. Two miss matched tires can set you up for a spill.

I generally match my tires also but have run different front and rears in the past and had no ill affect. Suppose if you were at a track day it might make more difference. Having said that the BT012SS is supersticky all over and the BT014 is just sticky on the sides with a harder compound in the middle (longer life on the freeway rides). I must be about the only idiot that wasn't impressed with the Pirelli Diablo Corsas. They were decent tires -- much better than Dunlop (puke) but I prefer the Bridgestones.

MICHELIN PILOT POWERS HANDS DOWN..

I work at motor cycle city. we sell the most bikes and parts in las vegas. I sell about 4 sets a wk, and about 20 rears a week... I dont sell anything else unless they really want to pay more for a SHITTIER tire... plus they have barely any warm up time. :D

f: 103$
R: 139$

best tire on the market specially for the price... I roll the pilots, and so do all of my friends... no complaints. get about 3000 miles of street riding... a lil less than the 208's (BARF)

get pilots.

Thanks for the advice.

I think I'm going to look for a good price on those Pilot Powers.

Any ideas where?

MICHELIN PILOT POWER...ALL THE WAY!

BUT IS IS ALSO GOOD TO HAVE THE SAME TIRE ON THE FRONT AS ON THE REAR SO THAT THEY PERFORM THE SAME WAY...PREDICTABLE.
