My first post so please be gentle. I have a low mileage 2005 New Zealand model CBR1000RR with a Yoshi RS5 titanium slip on, and the
airbox flapper mod (and 15t front sprocket) and standard air filter. I run 98 octane when I can get it but usually 95.

Noticed it seems to be running a bit rich as there is soot around the end of the can, and a friend riding behind noticed a little smoke.

So, I have ordered a PCIII USB from Ebay, which should be here soon. Ideally I would look to get an individual map, but in New Zealand we are a bit short of dyno tuning facilities.

So looking at the Powercommander.com website, I see that the suggested tunes are M121-010 Yoshi Slip On, and M121-520 Yoshi RS5 Slip on European model.

I will probably end up trying both, but my question is what is the difference with European model? The Honda workshop
manual doesn't seem to offer any clues.

Anyone tried either tune, and if so how was it? If it works for you I would like to know if your bike is same as mine. Also, is the accelerator pump feature worth doing?

Welcome in Simon,

I found the same thing as you when i put my RS5 can on, so I to bought a PC3 and tried the map from the Power Commander Website. This Improved the fueling alot and I had more responsiviness in the mid rev range. Then I had the bike dyno`ed and a custom map made for it which made it excellent, still get a little soot build up, but it takes 3-400 miles to show any soot now. I run 98 or 95 all the time here in the UK.

My Custom map is available to download in the PC3 maps section, its worth a try as its a matter of seconds to transfer the map from Computer to pc3. However I have A set of K&N air filters in also. I`m not aware of any differences between models from Europe/New Zealand but it might be worth asking the question at the Honda Dealer first.

Hey, at last someone else from the southern hemisphere! I'm from South Africa. I have sold my 04 CBR 1000 RR which had a Yoshi RS5 slip-on and BMC filters (no flapper mod though). I rode it for a year like that and then got the PC III. Initially loaded the map from PC website for a Yoshi slip-on and it was ok but most stock fireblades could live with me. I then had a custom Dyno map done and that made one hell of a difference! Besides adding 6bhp of power it just made the delivery of the power ultra smooth and suddenly I was running with GSXRs. I live at 1600m altitude so custom mapping is essential as most stock setups are for sea level. The ac pump is great for track days when you are on 90% + acceleration most of the time but I never noticed it on the road. If you wanna try my map let me know. Not sure how to e-mail it though. Now have a 06 Fireblade which has a Arat Ti full system and a stock map while I run it in. Can't wait to get custom map done though. By the way be glad you get 95 and sometimes 98 octane, we have to make do with 93 octane at altitude!!!!

Anubis thanks mate. I have since found that Aus and NZ have the same ECU as UK, but different from US. Something to do with fuel quality/RON. I think my set up is same as yours (Yoshi RS5 slip on, flapper mod) but stock air filter. The bike runs beautifully on your map, much nicer than the Yoshi map on the CD which was too rich. Its so sweet that I can't see me bothering to get a custom map done.
