owning both an 02 rc-51 with a few mods, an a new o6 1000rr. that's a tough question. the rc-51 is a beast to ride, to ride it fast thru the twisties(deals gap)you have to work harder to get the speed. with the 1000rr it's easier to to ride it faster thru the twisties than the rc with alot less work. but with the 1000rr you give up the v-twin sound. with an rc-51 you can't be afraid to ride it hard or it will chew you up and spit you out, it's alot less forgiving than the 1000rr. i've done several track days on the rc had no real horsepower disadvantages over the liter 4's. both are great bikes and can be ridden hard an fast just depends on how hard you want to work to ride fast.

LoL
giving up a 1000RR for an RC-51 ?

lets face it, the 1000RR is a better bike straight out o the box
in fact i'd prefer the 600RR over an RC-51

thanks for the input, and yes the repsol is probably the better of the two,but it depends on the purpose in which you want to use it,i have not decided whether or not i will change that is why the question was asked.
cheers
