Thats how I left it sunday, with the engine all over my garage.

Parts are on their way, except for the clutches. I think I can do better then $14 a fiber disc.

Hello Honkn,

We are somewhat local, I do frequent the tourist towns on the Del.

Once you get running, maybe we can get some 1000Fs together for a meet?

I have a crazy sked, but, let me know if you need some muscle for the re-construction...

BTW, its great to see a stock exhaust. Hard to find these days..

HonknRalph, what happened with the bike? How come you didn't get it? I got approached about buying because I was a bidder and the winning bidder didn't purchase. Any details?

I guess I should have read more before the reply. I did get an email from the original owner about the bike, but I see your pictures, so you obviously got it. When you get it together I can send some pics of mine, I just made a fender eliminator for mine and took the turnsignals off man does it look good now.

I was already looking at moving the licence plate and turn signals and ditching the flap fender. It looks so out of place. I was the 2nd bidder and paid my high bid despite the next lowest being 1575. Whatever, it's sweet and I can't wait to ride it up to state college for it's first ride. I'm planning of firing it up without the mufflers, on the way back together just to hear it. I like quieter pipes though, my exhaust is in really good shape too. The bolts weren't even rusty when I took it apart. The bike is like a time capsule.

Gee that is unlucky to have that chain brake.

It runs from the crankshaft so you have to go the whole hog.

See if you can take as many pics as possible so that if/when other people have to do it it is made easier.

Also sometimes there are work arounds that aren't in the manual that you discover.

Good luck.

Good luck with it. It does look like a sweet ride.I put supertrapps on mine and it sounds a lot better but not loud.

I worked in a GM dealership as a mechanic for a few years. That Honda manual is terrible compared to a GM manual.

I've got a ton of pics if the engine apart, but I've been to lazy to resize them and post them. Parts are due in tomorrow, but I have to help a friend move home from virginia this weekend so hopefully I can get it back together monday and ride back to school.

I worked on it for about an hour monday. Got it the rest of the way apart and started to put it back together a little. I'm going to try and make some major progress this weekend.

Maybe u will think about this, maybe not. BUT, since you are in the engine that far I would replace both chains, starter clutch and seriously consider replacing the bearing and rings. My thoughts on that, your already in there!!! Why put it back together with the old stuff and something could possibly go wrong later??? Do a minor rebuild, then get started on your freshly tuned up CBR, and don't worry about it for years!!! Esp depending on the mileage!! You have a new looking bike, and it would be almost all new internally too! Isn't that the trick?? To enjoy riding it for a long time, instead of having to fix little things here and there??? Just a thought for you.

it's only got 9,000 miles on it. It worked before, it will work again. I'm not looking to dump any more into this bike.
