I have to give this tip cause it's too good to keep to myself.....

Here's one tip that many will scratch their heads at, but just TRY IT!!! You will be amazed!!! Get some regular ole $0.50 cents a bottle rubbing alchohol. Mix it 50/50 in a spray bottle with regular tap water (you read that right!). Use this mix of alchohol / water on your windscreen, car windshield, and helmet visor & headlight lenses.

The bugs & crap will come right off.

Stuff dries IMMEDIATELY!! Absolutely refuses to streak!!! It's squeaky clean too!!! (Side bene, your hands are now sterilized!!! )

And with repeated use, it will form an awesome invisible shield that will have the water beading off like nobodies business!!! I can drive the Z06 in moderate rain & never have to use the wipers!!

(Secret Info??? This is essentially what RainEx is!!)

PS: We use this on our $50,000 jet windscreens too & I use it on my personal plane windshield too which isn't cheap, so no ill effects...I guarantee it!!!

Enjoy!!!

For even added effect, if you can get ahold of some surgical rags - mine are blue in color, regular rag sized - if you have a medical person in your life, they can snag some for you probably for free -- or from a medical supply company, these rags will leave NO LINT, NOTHING & are absolutely perfect for using on windshields, etc.

i can also add that this works great! i've been doing it for years. my dad shared the tip with me after using some alcohol to remove a sticker of some sort off the bumper of a truck he bought. we lived on a gravel road and he noticed that less dirt/dust stuck to that spot. so he eventually started cleaning his bumpers, wheels, and glass with an alcohol/water mix.

another tip: instead of using towels when cleaning windows, use newspaper. will not leave lint and the porous paper will pick up the dirt and bugs. best of all, when you're done just toss it. no washing towels just to dirty them again.

i come from a long line of cheap asses.

Yes!! The ole newspaper trick works very well too!! I use that especially to clean the filmy residue that accumulates from the "out-gassing" of the interior fabrics & plastics in my cars. Takes the crud right off the glass immediately. VERY clean appearance.

Alchohol / Water won't hurt anything I've ever found. Been doing it for years and years -- like about 15 or so. I use ZAINO #6 Ultra Gloss Enhancing Cleaner / Spray on the bike plastics. But on occasion just give a bug or something a shot of the alchy/H2O mix & off it comes like a breeze. No streaks!!
